How Lab-Grown Diamonds Are Made

Every lab-grown diamond begins with a spark—literally. It starts as a tiny carbon seed, often taken from a pre-existing diamond. From there, cutting edge technology replicates the Earth’s natural diamond-forming conditions using one of two advanced methods: High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) or Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD)
There are two main methods:
• High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT): A diamond seed is placed under extreme pressure and heat, mimicking the natural environment of the Earth’s mantle.
• Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD): A diamond seed is placed in a chamber filled with carbon- rich gas. The carbon atoms slowly deposit onto the seed, layer by layer, forming a diamond crystal.
